The Magic of Photoshop

We're trying to figure out what our place might look like with, y'know, carpet and paint and stuff.

Any suggestions?

I'd suggest something in the "angry fisherman in yellow slicker" motif, a la topsail

My suggestion is for you to tape a couple weeks worth of the design shows on HGTV: Design on a Dime, Design Remix, Designer's Challenge and Divine Design. The first two do things pretty economically, the last two tend to have HUGE budgets, but all are great for giving you ideas.

I can't wait to see the after pictures!

Jody, I'm so glad that you are feeling so well that you didn't have to wait until "week 3" for your weekend away.

Like the idea for one wall in color but hate the brown...

yea, I agree with caller #3: no need for baby-crap brown. I generally think that lighter colors work better on large walls. You can always decorate/accent with pix or wall hangings, after all.

And if it were us, we'd go for hardwood floors and area rugs, not carpet. Esp. if it's a climate that tends to be prone to, well, mildew.

Well, you asked!!

And now for something completely different... I liked the brown, but thought it was the wrong shade. Something warmer? I photoshopped it myself, but then lost the file. Itr was a sort of caramel/café au lait shade. I think it blends well with the wood and the view of the outside. I had the carpet in a deep green, too, but I suspect sis is right in her comment about mildew....
