One More Haiku

Thinking more clearly,
But molting by the second.
New hats on standby.

i see you in many hats
i see the parisian with a glint in her eye, a soft cloche the color of the rain at twilight,
sitting at the deux magots and watching picasso draw on a napkin
i see you in a velvet cocktail hat, a mere confection of brilliant bird of paradise feathers, rising to tango at the Crillon they mask your expression from your partner, each feather scintillating with a single diamond, spangling the dim room as the lights swirl; but your body says, "love"
I see you in a tweed cap, climbing a hill to watch the sunrise; following the curve of a hawk hunting breakfast;
i see you in a brilliant crimson felt with a wide brim, slanted over one eye, walking to cartier's to choose a christening cup--your grandmother muttering in your head: kennehorah bundles! don't forget them!;
i see you in an angora tam, riding with the top down, zach beside you, headed for the vineyards, all that bronze glory that's now on your pillow tucked in against the wind
i see your courage and your love for everything, your sharp eye, your incisive mind, hear your laughter, hear your zingers on all of this, making us all laugh too
Build the hat wardrobe and it WILL come
